Open Water

Here at Lloyd Bailey's Scuba we just don't issue certification cards but we make properly trained scuba divers. We hold a no pressure and thorough class, because you have paid good money to get trained and not just to receive a certification card. Our instructional program is geared to your comfort zone and we exceed any agency's standards.
We also understand that just taking a class is not enough to become comfortable underwater and become proficient with scuba skills. That is why we offer a FREE trip down the Rainbow River for Open Water students that have completed their training and we also encourage former students to come back to dive with other Open Water Classes either during pool sessions (if space allows) or during the Open Water dive weekend to become more comfortable and to become better at basic scuba skills.
PREREQUISITES
Students must possess basic swimming skills & the desire to have
a GREAT time! This entry-level course provides the foundation for safely
pursuing the recreational sport of Open Water SCUBA diving in freshwater.
Salt-water training is available during our Open
Water II, West Palm Beach Weekends.
WE PROVIDE
Buoyancy Compensator (BC), air delivery system, weight
belt, tanks and a wetsuit. Also included in your course fee is an Open
Water Certification Card. Upon completion of the class, Lloyd will take
you on a FREE trip down the Rainbow
River.
YOU PROVIDE
Desire to have a GREAT time, SSI Logbook,
SSI Student Kit, Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Dive Boots, Dive Watch, and Slate.
We also highly recommend that you get a dive
gear bag, and dive knife. We also recommend that you get a personal
mouthpiece for the rental regulators that you will be using during the
class
DO NOT purchase any gear until you have met with your instructor for a PRECOUNSELING appointment!

Pricing
1 for $245 or sign up with a friend for 2 at $470
A $50 deposit is required to reserve your spot. The total is due before
the start of the class.
Open Water Class
Schedule
Lecture and Pool Sessions all start at 6 PM Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and last until 9:30PM. Open Water dive weekends start at the
store at 7 AM Saturday and Sunday and lasts until about 3 PM. The highlighted
dates are one week classes, starting
Sunday night and meeting every night and open water dives on Saturday
and Sunday.

THE HOME STUDY STUDENT KIT WHICH INCLUDES A SIX MODULE VHS OR DVD, TEXT BOOK W/ WORK BOOK AND DIVE TABLES @ $59.95
AN SSI TOTAL LOG BOOK TO FACILITATE PRE DIVE AND POST DIVE PLANNING AS WELL AS KEEPING A RECORD OF DIVES MADE @$34.95 FOR THE DELUXE LOG BOOK.
PARK ADMISSION FEES ARE $75.00 TO DIVE AT BLUE GROTTO AND GINNIE SPRINGS. BLUE GROTTO IS THE VERY BEST LOCATION IN NORTH FLORIDA FOR A NEW STUDENT TO MAKE THEIR FIRST SCUBA DIVES AFTER POOL TRAINING. THE WATER IS STILL AND REMAINS CLEAR WHICH IS IDEAL FOR NEW DIVERS. ON THE SECOND DAY WE DIVE DEVIL’S, EYE, EAR, LITTLE DEVIL, GINNIE AND EXPERIENCE THE SANTA FE RIVER IF CONDITIONS ALLOW. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE STUDENT DO THE OPTIONAL DIVES IN WEST PALM BEACH.
EACH STUDENT WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN SURFACE SUPPORT GEAR (MASK, SNORKEL FINS, BOOTS, AND SEA DROPS, ETC.)
THIS EQUIPMENT MUST BE PURCHASED @ LLOYD BAILEY’S SCUBA IN ORDER TO SAVE MONEY AND TO ENSURE A PROPER FIT AS AN EXIT GOAL. IF YOU PURCHASE YOUR EQUIPMENT AT ANOTHER STORE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE LEVEL OF SERVICE THAT YOU DESERVE. WE ARE A VALUE BASED DIVE STORE. THE MASK IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON THE DIVER. SURFACE SUPPORT GEAR WILL RANGE FROM $195 TO $350.
NEW DIVERS SHOULD PLAN ON SPENDING AROUND $600 TO COMPLETE THE ENTRY LEVEL COURSE AND AROUND $1750 TO BECOME AN ACTIVE DIVER. OUR POLICY OF “PRINCIPLE BEFORE PROFIT” DICTATES FULL DISCLOSURE OF ALL COSTS PRIOR TO YOU STARTING YOUR TRAINING. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BECOME AN ACTIVE DIVER UNTIL YOU OWN YOUR OWN GEAR! AT LBS&W WE ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN CREATING NEW DIVERS. IN ORDER TO AVOID WASTING TIME AND MONEY, DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO GET INTO THE SPORT.

- WE OFFER RAINBOW RIVER TRIPS AT A REDUCED CHARGE OF $10 FOR OUR OPEN WATER STUDENTS.
- WE EMBRACE THE PHILOSOPHY OF ZERO STRESS SCUBA INSTRUCTION. WE WILL NOT CERTIFY YOU AS A DIVER UNTIL YOU ARE SAFE AND COMFORTABLE. WE RECOGNIZE THAT PEOPLE PROGRESS AT DIFFERENT RATES; WE WILL WORK WITH YOU UNTIL YOU ARE COMFORTABLE.
- WE OFFER OPTIONAL SALT WATER DIVING IN WEST PALM BEACH. THIS TRIP IS SPECIFICALLY OFFERED FOR FIRST TIME SALT WATER DIVERS AND IS ONLY FOUR HOURS AWAY.
- SCUBA IS A TECHNIQUE SPORT. IF YOU ARE EXERTING WHILE DIVING, YOU ARE NOT DIVING CORRECTLY. WE WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE DIVING EASY.
- WE INSTRUCT WITH A HIGH ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND DISCIPLINE. PERSONAL COMFORT AND ENJOYMENT ARE EMPHASIZED.
- WE PRECOUNCIL ALL OF OUR STUDENTS PRIOR TO THE CLASS STARTING.
- WE USE A HOME STUDY TEACHING SYSTEM WITH ACADEMIC REVIEW. YOU MUST COMPLETE MODULES 1&2 PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST CLASS.
- WE OVERTEACH AND BELIEVE IN LEARNING THROUGH REPITITION WITH A DETAILED AND DISCIPLINED FOLLOW THROUGH TO ENSURE THAT SKILLS ARE PERFORMED CORRECTLY.
